The Meldrim United Methodist Church was originally
organized on September 25, 1896. In 1897 we were officially called the "Meldrim Church of the Eden Circuit", Savannah District,
South Georgia Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church South. The Church was destroyed by lightening in 1912 and rebuilt
in 1913.
In 1984, we were placed on a charge with Marlow
Methodist Church. Rev. Don Powers was our first charge pastor, followed by Rev. Dan Pegram, Rev. Stan Porter, Rev. Steve
Meguiar, Rev Ben Deforeand Peter Vermeulen, who is still our pastor today.
On October 13th 1996 we celebrated our
100th Anniversary. Over the past 100 years, our church has experienced exceptional growth. The year 1996 will be a celebration
of all the accomplishments we have made through God's love.
With each challenge we have encountered, we became stronger in our faith. We may provide links to other
sites that provide more detail on our church history or particular events in our past.
We invite you to become a part
of the church today and a piece of its history tomorrow.
